The projects capitalize on ongoing studies in the framework of the COST Action SMARTER, on the invasive common ragweed and the interaction with one candiate biocontrol agent.
Call for a training school on classical biological control of ragweed and other invasive weeds In the frame of SMARTER Task 5 on ‘Training, knowledge and technology transfer’.

Application: by sending a motivation letter explaining the interest in and use of the training school and whether you would like to receive an individual grant (see below), along with a CV and SMARTER-questionnaire (to be downloaded from http://ragweed.eu/wanna-join/) to Benno Augustinus () until March, 31st 2016.

The 6th European Symposium on Aerobiology (ESA), the second under the aegis of the European Aerobiology Society EAS, will take place 18-22 July 2016 in Lyon, France. During this meeting, there will be a specific ragweed session in partnership with IRS-EAS-COST-SMARTER.
The International Ragweed Society (IRS) is pleased to offer 3 grants (for 2 oral presentations and 1 poster) for young ragweed researchers (under 35 years of age). Applications are expected from researchers studying any aspect of Ragweed. Those who are awarded a grant will receive a contribution for their participation to the entire European Symposium.
COST SMARTER is offering individual grants of € 800 for participation in aerobiology training Schools with special emphasis on ragweed. The 12th European Course on Basic Aerobiology will be held on the 20-26 July 2015 at the Faculty of Biology and Agriculture of the University of Rzeszów in southeastern Poland, and the 8th Advanced Aerobiology Course will be held on the 16-22 August 2015 at the Šiauliai University, Šiauliai, Lithuania.

participant can take part to the activities of the SMARTER Action,
bearing in mind that one of the final goals of the Action is to create
a permanent network against ragweed (maximum 150 words)
3. The supporting statement signed by the applicant’s supervisor or
employer (maximum 150 words)
Note that reimbursement will only be given after the course has been
completed and after the following have been completed: (1) receipt of
the official record of attendance; (2) confirmation by the course
organiser; (3) presentation of a short report from each attendee.
Deadlines for applications are detailed in the attached call.
Participants will need to submit a scientific report to the Host
Institution within 30 days from the end date of the course.
